Who we are

our vision

Food is the tie that binds. It’s what brings family and friends together across tables, generations, and oceans. Food is a rare, tangible link to the past, a way to reach out and connect with the people who came before us.

We hope that Generational Fare inspires curiosity. Perhaps you’ll dig out an old family cookbook that’s been gathering dust, or finally sit down with your grandfather to get his recipe for fried fish. Maybe you’ll ask your mom about her famous pickles, and from which great-grandmother’s kitchen she thinks they originated. Or you might be on the hunt for some nonna-verified fresh pasta — in which case you’ve come to the right spot — and be inspired to make a recipe that another family has sworn by for decades.

Whether from your chosen family or family of origin, this is a place to share recipes and stories of the food that’s made you.

~Generational Fare is run by Lindsay Anderson, a writer, editor, and cookbook author/consultant based in Vancouver, Canada. Having travelled extensively for both work and fun, she’s found there’s no better way to connect with new folks than by asking about the best local snacks; everybody (and she means everybody) has an opinion.
