The story behind the recipe:

This is the cake my mom would bake and decorate for every school bake sale or cake walk. She worked in a bakery when she was young and had excellent baking and cake decorating skills.  I was always so happy to see her creations appear at the annual Family Fair at my school.

Ingredients:

4 egg yolks
1 cup sugar
3 Tbsp cold water
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp baking powder
4 egg whites

How to make it:

Beat egg yolks and sugar until thoroughly mixed and then add water and vanilla.  Add flour and baking powder and mix.  Next, beat egg whites until stiff and then fold into the mixture. Bake in tube pan in 375° oven until done.
